and has, since then, made a big round of the world's Motorshows. Four years later, VW has just shown the production-ready version of the W12 in the 2001 Tokyo Motorshow.
This time around, the W12 is powered by a 6.0lt W12 that is good for 600hp! Performance is Lamborighini Murcielago-beating:
0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph.
Significant changes since the 1997 Tokyo Motorshow concept do exist: The car is now a rear-wheel drive machine (the 1997 concept was 4wd) powered through a 6-speed
sequential gearbox.
Target price is around $150,000 which could steal sales away from both the Murcielago and Veyron. Quite why the VW group insists on
bringing out so many competing FantasyCars to the market at the same time is beyond us – but we are sure really happy about it. Go VW!
