New Bugatti Veyron is Coming! by Alex Michalas The biggest thing in the 2000 Paris Motorshow was definetely the Porsche Carrera GT but there actually was another car that could match it for performance! This was the Bugatti EB 16.4 Veyron!
The Veyron was not a really new concept car as it has appeared in other motorshows during the last year but Paris was the first time that this goergous machine was actually
fitted with a "real" engine. It is VW's latest 16-cylinder W16 engine which produces 650hp and is also set to power Audi's upcoming supercar. Fitting that engine in is a very sensible move as Bugatti is now
(along Lamborghini) a member of the VW group. The engine is actually two narrow-angle V8s with a common
crank, giving a highly unusual "W" configuration. The W12 that made its debut in Paris in the nose of the production Audi A8L is a
really closely related model.
The biggest news though is that inside sources have told us that the Veyron is actually only a few months away from its production line!
Early 2001 should see this new Bugatti on the roads so we will be giving you more info on it as soon as we get it! |
