VW's Amazing W12 Supercar Will Be Produced!
by Alex Michalas It was back in the 1997 Tokyo Motorshow that VW
unveiled its amazing W12 concept supercar. The W12 has appered in many Motorshows since then but it has always been presented as a concept car with no word on production plans.
That was until today, though, as we have just learned that VW boss Ferdinard Piech has finally given the "go ahead" for this amazing mid-engined supercar! The car will be powered by VW's newly developed W12
unit that is also set to power upcoming models from Bugatti and Lamborghini. It is set to produce more than 400hp - definitely enough to make the W12 the first Volkswagen supercar.
It has also been confirmed that both the coupe and convertible versions will actually reach production. VW plans to produce 300 cars in the first year of the W12's production and will later increase
production numbers if there is more demand. That's definitely great news from VW - especially with Bugatti's 16/4 and Audi's 16 Cylinder Supercar likely to hit production soon too! What do you think? Click here and talk about the W12 and anything else on the FantasyCars.com MessageBoard! |
